Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can I pay my school or village taxes at the Town Clerk Office?

A: Not usually. The only instance where this would happen would be if you got your school and/or village taxes and did NOT pay them on time, they WILL be re-levied onto your Town & County tax bill and therefore, you could pay them along with the Town & County taxes that we collect here in the Town Clerk/Tax Collector's office. That is the ONLY case where you would be paying them along with your Town taxes. And please do keep in mind that we do not have any other information on school or village taxes. Please contact the village and school for further information.

Q: Who do I talk to about STAR & other exemptions?

A: The Assessors handle the exemptions. You can reach them at (607) 655-2025. There is also a link on this site to the much-requested STAR form. You may print this yourself and bring it in to the Assessors by March 1st or mail it to the Assessors at 124 Main Street, Windsor, NY 13865. Approved applications filed before March 1 of a calendar year will go into effect the coming September.

Q: I got a ticket. Who do I need to speak to?

A: Please contact the Justice Office at (607) 655-1973.

Q: Are there any books about Windsor?

A: Yes! The soft-cover book, "Historical Essays of Windsor." This book was compiled and edited by former Windsor Town Historians, Majory B. Hinman and Bernard Osborne. It contains essays regarding Windsor's history and was first published in 1976 and again in 1995. You may pick up a copy for $12 in the Town Clerks Office
